New title: Basketball Official

Last weekend I finished the EBOA officials course. And since i have so much experience with basketball obviously I related that experience.
My first game was garbage. Junior high boys and I had absolutely no confidence 😩.
But that experience gave me such awesome insight into my weekend trio of games, which I absolutely crushed. Nbd.
Some key things were:
Confidence on calls, hard whistle blows, positioning, off-ball calls (3 seconds, blocks/screens), which team shoots which way, out of bounds, rotations, and a few others that I can't think of right now.

Obviously I'm pretty hyped about the whole thing, so yeah. I'm looking forward to the upcoming weeks and actually making money with it.

Speaking of employment...
Still no word from any employers yet. I'm not certain where I want to end up. Employed, educated, happy, fulfilled, etc. Obviously those are the basic ones, but damn the journey doesn't make the goals any easier, yknow?

I wonder how deeply rooted my laziness is. It is definitely more than just an occasional character trait, because even in 23 years I know it's no more than a few days until I see evidence of my own laziness.
I want to put the blame on someone else, so I will. It's because of our society. Yeah that's it. The 'rat race', having expectations put on you, the way everything is portrayed in the media, especially social media.
Oh man that ones something. Social media (depending on the website) shows the front/top/lead/trending page as this hive mind. And if you aren't part of the hive mind then

Strongholds in our life.

Col 2:9-10 "in Christ dwells are the dullness of the godhead in bodily form and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power."

Word picture: valve between body and spirit.
Renew and release.

Dandelion example. Deal with the root, not the fruit.

Replace strongholds of fear with strongholds of love.

Phil 4:8 anything that is...(good)...meditate on these things

Proverbs 4:23

Where are they now?

I basically slept through Tomas' message, but it was about the fruit of the spirit, and how everyone has a different path. And other stuff that I can't remember right now. 😁

Church in 2017

CCC - Pastor Dean

1 Corinthians - Purpose, 'He who sows poorly will reap poorly'

1 Thessalonians 5:

5:24, he who called you will remain faithful

1 John 3:

John 8:

The Project - Pastor Thomas

Galatians:

Earliest books written
No subtlety lmao.
Someone said something to the church andbegan  screwing with people who were going to church.

Post Script new thing they're doing here at the project
Galatians 6:9-10 '...we should do good to everyone...'

Much of Christianity is spent thinking about what it means to be Christian. Almost like a machine it's like we're hard wired for achievements. Tell me what to do so I can get on it. Like a resume, you wanna make sure you're doing a good job at it
It's why most people who read the bible stick with the Do centric parts. James, proverbs etc.

Christianity is first who you are and not what you do.

You can't miss what happened before.

Ch 3:1-4 'you received the spirit by believing the message of Christ. Are you trying to keepyourselves  in the kingdom through human effort?'

...

That's all for now.

Moving Up

January has, objectively, not been super so far.
But I'm still feeling good about what I've accomplished so far.

In terms of work, December was basically a write off. I kinda worked on my resume, did a little bit of networking. But overall there was very little effort given to the whole, 'job search.' But that's ok. I needed that time to reflect on my life, reassess my goals, think hard about what I need, what sort of job/volunteer/career gives me life and job satisfaction. The meetings I had with my mentors were all valuable, being able to ask tough questions gave me a chance to acknowledge the things that are important to me, and notice the things that I need to remove from my life.
The answers here being:
Keep in my life or improve on:
The community of believers at CCC & The Project, education (always be learning), fitness (improve on, Fitbit, Bodyweight workouts, casual basketball, refereeing), a positive working environment (coworkers, employer, job satisfaction, purpose?), relationships (mentorshop, friends, romantic ones, mentoring, work & professional), home and organization, food (eating healthy, balanced, cooking skills, variety, frozen vs freezing and microwaveable vs convection, packaging and prep), hygiene (habits, skincare, hair care, oral, shaving), family! (Spending time talking, meeting and hanging out, praying for, calling), -things I enjoy (slacklining, playing video games for fun, watching movies/tv/anime alone and with friends, playing/watching/refereeing basketball, playing board games with friends, checking out thrift stores, reading and listening to audiobooks, learning Japanese and French, hanging out with friends, meeting friends and family for coffee, going out to events [young adults, youth, random, outdoors, encounter YEG], hanging out with the Youth group, playing instruments...there are probably more but I like my list so far 😊), owning up to things I've done (acknowledging my faults, mistakes, awkwardness, etc), reading my Bible, praying more, researching and educating myself in things that interest me or will improve myself (philosophy, social work, networking, computer skills,

Things I need to remove:
Bad attitudes, hatred, lack of motivation, laziness, complacency, negative people, busyness, relaxing for the sake of relaxing, seeking pleasure for pleasures sake (see: masturbation), wasteful spending, (probably more but I cant think of any more).

Recently I've been watching some tv. I haven't finished Voyager, I've been burning through The Boondocks, watching InuYasha, finished Sidonia with Hayden, finally started Durarara again with Bruin and Hayden, and rewatching a few episodes of random anime for enjoyment (Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso, Sword Art Online, Sidonia, Madoka Magica).

I finally got into the job search last week. Applied to some part time places, completed the Eboa basketball officials course (looking forward to learning more about that), and I'm keeping my eyes on the social work and service category online.

I've committed to watching and observing some FIBA officiating videos and basketball games
I also bought some new things that will give me something to do in my down time. A brand new computer case (finally, also all my brothers old mobo, CPU, etc), Evo SSD, 8 TB Raid 0, and board games.
Also, I have all my fitness things, the 3D printer, all the things inside the house, everything in my old home, my car, the garage, the walkways, my photos, everything. Life takes effort, especially if I want fulfillment in my day to day existence.

Basically I'm saying that life is never simple. I love everything about my life though, so I'm glad I have the community and friends and family around me to accompany me in it.

Oh also, the title is a pun on my moving progress to Josh's house. Because I'm moving, and the place I'm going to is north of where I was. Moving up? Get it? Haha. :D

That's all for now.

2016 in review

Overall 2016's been amazing.
At the end of the year there are some relationships that are worse off than they were at the start of the year, i've got a lot of questions that I don't know the answer to, I have a lot of new relationships that are awesome, i've done a lot of learning and I've had a chance to gain a lot of wisdom from a lot of people, i've done things that I am incredibly proud of the results, and I've gotten results that I really wish I could change.

2017 comes with opportunity, it also brings with it a lot of responsibility and a lot of questions that I don't have answers to, most importantly 2017 is going to be a year where I get a chance to live life and just enjoy the life I'm living. I'm going to work a lot of different jobs, i'm going to meet with a lot of friends, and family, i'm going to look at the education and spend some time doing research that's not just entertainment, i'm going to create environments that I enjoyed being in and I'm going to be a part of environments that I've helped create.

That's all for now and for 2017,
HAPPY (early) NEW YEAR!!

Tv

I'm currently watching a free different shows, one of them being The Seven Deadly Sins.

Meliodas - the Dragon Sin of Wrath
Diane - the Snake Sin of Envy
Ban - the Fox Sin of Greed
King - the Bear Sin of Sloth
Gowther - the Goat Sin of Lust
Merlin - the Boar Sin of Gluttony
Escanor - the Lion's Sin of Pride

envy,  greed, wrath, envy, and sloth

At the time when I wrote this I kinda had a thought, but we basically finished off this show in a few days, so I forgot, ahaha.

In addition, Hayden and I started off the Netflix original Knights of Sidonia, 7 episodes through that, it's pretty good.

I'm currently watching Battlestar Galactica and Flight of the Concords with Joel.

Josh and I have been watching Avatar TLA for a while now, and he and I started the Netflix original Daredevil last week.

For me personally I've been trying to finish off some of the shorter shows I've been watching, I'm thinking of starting up Gintama (201 episodes!!!) after I finish all my other commitments, it's so highly rated and well recommended so I just don't think I should try to resist anymore.
For tv I have basically the last season of Star Trek Voyager, and that's it. I might start watching Boondocks in the future, no other solid plans.

For anime I've been watching Durarara with Bruin and Hayden (don't think we've seen one in at least a few months), I'm watching Monster, Medabots, Inuyasha, and YuGiOh (the abridged XD). I'm rewatching Charlotte, and sometimes I'll throw up Nana on Netflix if I've got nothing else going on.

That's my entertainment for the end of 2016! That's all for now!

Faith =\ reality
Herod, had everything he ever wanted. Pride, jealousy and fear kept him from making the choice that would have changed his whole world. He didn't acknowledge another King.
He walked away from the one thing that would have given his life meaning.

Coming of a new life, love in its purest form, God reaching out to humanity.

Trust.

Is there an area in your life where you need to trust God more?

Change.

You can meet Jesus. The manger tells us that it is possible. Emanuel, God with is. He's not just past tense. He is very real present tense, interacting with us today. We can understand what it means to have a relationship with him.

Look at the manger and trust. May you encounter Jesus Christ.

Time to Sow

Here I am, chilling in church and man, do I feel pretty awesome.

Since I got the news that I'm unemployed, I have:
  • Been to four Christmas parties
  • Gone for coffee with 3 good friends
  • Made a dozen or more phone calls to family and friends
  • Networked, gotten leads on 5+ different job/education possibilities
  • Finished 4/5 of my updated resume
  • Applied to EI (might have incorrrctly filled in some blanks XD)
Basically, I've been focusing on where I'm at, where I should be going from here, not rushing into any specific idea, but acknowledging that life goes on, and I will grow and prosper in my upcoming season of life.

Honestly I'm beat. I got to hang out with my WHOLE immediate family, it was great.
I'm tired,
That's all for now.
