Church

So here's my first day at CCC as a leader.
Basically all of my experience ever in ministry is just getting throw into the pit with these kids, and it's worked out pretty good so far, so I don't see any issues #gotdis.
Over now. I survived and everything went exactly as expected. Next time will be even better.
I need to look into getting filled in regarding announcements and other stuff that I miss during church when I'm at All Stars; it sounded like something interesting regarding ...

The Projext -
Legacy: leaving something behind to be remembered by
Theme: Ghost Stories
People in history: their legacies, the consequences they had to live with, etc.
David the lowly shepherd. Most prominent fixtures of the bible.
An incredible harpist, warrior who won many battles, composer of psalms, his sexual sin asnd defiance, a murderer.

How he is spoken of in the book of acts 13:21-22 "I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart." Paul remembered him thusly.
1 Samuel 13:13-14 "Your kingdom must end..."
David was humble, obedient, loyal, courageous, discerning.
But also a man of war who spilled obscene amounts of blood. He struggled with being vengeful, struggling with lust and sexual deviance.
His history was wrought with humility. David was a nobody and there was nothing noteworthy attached to his name.
Samuel originally looked at David's older brother, judging by appearances.
1 Samuel 16:7 "People judge by outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart."
'Are you down one who is more concerned about the outward appearance?'
Or are you more concerned with your heart? No one can see but it matters the most.
Here's what's wild about the life of David; people noticed there was something different about this man. The state of his heart actually had an effect on the people around him, even those who didn't know God!
But. People love to question the validity of David, based on his transgressions.
Bathsheba - 'unusual beauty.'
David arranges Bathsheba's husband to be killed.
David tells Solomon about some of the men who wronged him when he was king
"Do with him what you think best but do not let him grow old and go to his grave in peace."
1 Kings 2:6
1 Kings 2:8b-9
Kind of.a Godfather vibe...
Obviously those things don't disqualify David from being human. Just like us he had character flaws and made decisions without realizing the consequences.
He actively pursued the will of God, he didn't let these flaws bring him doen.
A man, broken and weak...after God's heart.
'God do you want this for me?'
Psalm 139:23-24
"Search me, test me, point out anything in me that offends you..."

'God doesn't want your perfection - He wants your pursuit.'
Ok wow. That's something I hadn't thought about in s while... Neat.

When we are passive and apathetic we drift away from God. Our default actions as human are not to better ourselves, but to coast and just drift along, be mediocre.
What will your legacy be?
Were you selfish? Did you make kayaked and allow them to define who you are?
Commit to pursue something greater.
Be a person who made mistakes, but overcame them.
Be a man of action and set out to accomplish great things.

...
There is an activeness in our pursuit.
'How will I be remembered?'

That's all for now.
